Fairly Traded Coffee Experience

Learn about the production of coffee in Guatemala, accompanied by a member of the De la Gente (DLG) charity who strive to promote environmentally responsible agriculture in Guatemala, helping to support smaller independent producers of coffee.

Fair Trade Coffee Tour

Your private guide and driver will meet you for the short ride to the town of San Miguel Escobar, just outside of Antigua. In San Miguel, you will meet a farmer that owns a small, independent coffee plantation and promotes environmentally responsible agriculture in Guatemala. On this tour you will visit one of the families that works on this model. You can work side-by-side with coffee farmers as you help pick, pulp, ferment, wash, dry, thresh, sort, or grade the coffee (depending on the season); roast the coffee over an open fire; and grind it by hand on a grindstone before sampling the brew. After the coffee tour you will have a simple, traditional meal at a local home before transferring back to Antigua.
