Brunton Boatyard is located at the northern edge of Fort Cochin and within easy walking distance of all the major sights in the heart of the old city.
Although a new building, commissioned in 1999, the Brunton Boatyard is built in the style of early Dutch and Portuguese architecture and resembles the old colonial buildings of Cochin. With punkah fans hanging in the public areas, it is rather easy to be taken back in time. Run by CGH Earth who operate a number of Keralan hotels, Brunton Boatyard promotes an eco-friendly approach to tourism.
There are 22 rooms at Brunton Boatyard, each providing sea views. With high ceilings and traditional furnishings such four poster beds and teak furniture, you get a wonderfully colonial feel. The bathrooms are state of the art and offer walk in power showers.
The hotel has a stunning swimming pool located in front of the hotel right next to the sea. The views out are wonderful, although it is on a shipping lane which on the plus side does in itself reflect nicely off the nautical theme of the hotel.
There are three restaurants including History and the Terrace Grill which specialises in fresh seafood. We think the food is some of the best in Kerala, so even if you don't end up staying here, you might want to come along for dinner.
