Highlights
Enjoy a diverse landscape of craggy mountains, desert landscape and vast vistas as far as the eye can see
The NamibRand has been named as Africa's first designated International Dark Sky Reserve - it is one of the least polluted areas in the world, able to offer some unforgettable star gazing
The NamibRand Nature Reserve conjures images of rolling desert plains a backdrop of craggy mountains and surrounding earthy tones, and Kwessi Dunes has been perfectly located for guests to enjoy and experience just that. This private reserve allows guests to enjoy an exclusive stay whilst soaking up the beauty of the colourful landscape and enjoying the peace that the desert offers.
Kwessi Dunes has 12 air conditioned chalets with thatched roofs and canvas walls spaced out from the main lodge. Full of character and designed with an old-world safari-feel in mind, rooms have four poster beds, antique furniture and colourful patterned fabrics to create a welcoming and homely feel. Large glass windows are a prominent feature for the main lodge to allow guests to enjoy the beautiful vistas of the NamibRand, as well as a well-stocked bar area, several living areas along with a library, dining area, swimming pool and outside fire.
The NamibRand has also been named as Africa's first International Dark Sky Reserve, meaning it is one of the least light-polluted areas in the world. With each chalet coming with a star gazer bed on top of the room, guests can enjoy private star gazing every night of their stay if they wish. During the day there are numerous activities on offer to explore the NamibRand, from nature drives and hiking, to quad biking and horseback riding (extra cost). Guests staying at Kwessi Dunes could also visit the towering dunes of Sossusvlei and the eerie petrified trees of deadvlei on a day trip, or glide over the desert in a hot air balloon, both of which come at an extra cost.
