Owners Tone & Bjorn’s passion and love for the area will soon rub off on you as you discover this hidden gem. The couple exude charm and enthusiasm and Bjorn's talent for building coupled with Tone's eye for décor mean 29/2 Aurland looks likes it's straight from the pages of an interior design magazine.

The standalone house with five bedrooms is beyond homely with a log burning stove, amazing photos from bygone days, cosy woollen throws and deep armchairs. Next door the newest building, where breakfast is served, boasts a sitting area with a glorious wall of windows as atmospheric by day as it is by night. Here the rooms are like suites, spacious and airy with sublime bathrooms.

The old smoke house, where Bjorn's father used to cure the wild salmon is like stepping back in time. Dinner is served here, sitting around a communal table, listening to tales of past guests, the old way of life and slowly sinking into the relaxed pace synonymous with rural Norway.

The guides are fantastic and will devise hiking routes to suit your preferences, be it a gentle stroll through stunning scenery or a more demanding hike to a perfect viewpoint. This is a true Norwegian home from home and perfect for those wanting to venture off the beaten path.

Meals are inspired by what's in season and the focus here is all about relaxing with a great book and glass of wine by the fire in the evening after a day of exploring your enchanting environs.
