The town of Musanze is only half an hour by car to the entrance of the Volcanoes National Park, the oldest national park in Africa. Here, amongst the dense bamboo thickets and steamy jungles, dwell families of endangered mountain gorillas, some of the largest apes on earth. Trek through the jungles in search of these impressive primates, or head off in search of the smaller golden monkeys. Cultural visits, tours of the Musanze Caves, trips to the twin lakes of Burera and Rohondo and visits to the tomb of primatologist Dian Fossey can all be arranged from Bishops House.
