Places to Visit in Bhutan
Bhutan is separated into valleys with the mountain ranges in between so the main places we suggest to visit in Bhutan are Paro, Thimphu, Gangtey, Punakha and Bumthang. The main difference between the valleys is the altitude, Punakha is the lowest meaning in the summer the verdant rice paddies carpet the valley. Paro and Thimphu are higher valleys so the land can be more barren but with more snow in the winter. The ‘hidden’ valleys of Gangtey and Bumthang are truly awesome, this is partly because the roads aren’t great in Bhutan so they are harder to get to but the charm comes in when you set off on a hike and don’t see another soul the whole day.
From November to February Gangtey Valley is home to the Black Neck Crane which are large migratory birds which soar above the Monastery and is worth bring in the binoculars for. Depending on the time you have and your preferences our experts can suggest the best valleys for you to explore.
