Best time to visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Due to its length and topography, Chile’s north, central and southern regions have different climates: The north of Chile is a year round destination but its weather, particularly in the Atacama desert, is affected by the high altitude with temperatures fluctuating dramatically from day to night. Southern Patagonia is best visited from November to March when temperatures are milder but visitors should be prepared for strong winds and changeable weather at any time. It is worth considering travelling outside this time, especially rewarding in April (for autumn colours) or October (for spring flowers) because winds can drop significantly and there are fewer visitors in the national parks. The Central Valley enjoys a temperate Mediterranean climate from Mid-October to April with cooler temperatures and higher rainfall from May to September. The wine harvest takes place in March.

Itinerary

Fly to Santiago
Day 1-4

San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

Dive straight in to a Chillean desert adventure in the Atacama.  After landing in Santiago a short connecting flight will bring you to Calama.  Here you can prepare yourself to be spoilt rotten.  Staff from the exclusive and boutique Awasi Atacama will be waiting to greet and drive you to the oasis town of San Pedro. Desert dwellings don’t get much better than this; each room is assigned a private guide and vehicle to really indulge and optimise the most of your time here. Awasi is the only lodge in the area that offers all tours on a private basis as standard, meaning experiences can be especially tailored to you, away from the crowds.

Delve deep into adventure and explore the Valley of the Moon first thing in the morning by bike, a blissful time to avoid the crowds and take in the beautiful silence on top of the dunes. Discover the remote Tatio Geyser fields, watch flamingos congregate in the Altiplano lakes and enjoy some spectacular hiking in the Lejia lake highlands, not known to many so a truly unique and worthwhile adventure. Leave time to reach the stunning lagoons where you can hop in for a refreshing swim, before crossing back over beautiful sand dunes and riverbeds.  Not forgetting the abundant starry sky of the southern hemisphere, be lost in the vast galaxy above you and take in the knowledge shared by your private astrologer at the petroglyphs of Kezala.

Accommodation: Awasi Atacama ( 3 nights )
Day 4-6

Santiago, Chile

After days exploring the awe-inspiring Atacama, take a flight south back to Santiago, and spend a couple of nights in the buzzing Chilean capital.  Santiago will surprise and delight you, with its thriving culinary scene, epic skyline and cosmopolitan culture. We’ve included a private city walking tour with an expert guide, who will take you around Santiago’s diverse districts, revealing its fascinating history and geography. In the evening, dine in one of its many great restaurants over a glass of fine Chilean red.  After your fabulous day head back to The Singular Santiago, slap bang in trendy Barrio Lastarria district, home to an array of cafés, bars, boutiques, art galleries and restaurants.  Unwind with a sundowner in the rooftop plunge pool with stunning vistas over the city skyline and mountainous Andes backdrop.

Accommodation: The Singular Santiago ( 2 nights )
Day 6-8

Near Puerto Natales, Patagonia, Chile

Plunge into the tranquillity of the deep south, flying to Punta Arenas, the gateway to the Torres del Paine National Park with its mesmerising landscapes. Be dazzled with the unique style and splendour at The Singular Patagonia, an exemplary hotel brimming with history that will leave you with lasting memories of incredible views out to the fjord.

As you’ll head into the national park, we recommend that you board The Singular’s private luxury speedboat and head to the stunning Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers. You’ll see colonies of cormorants and sea lions and be able to enjoy spectacular views of the glaciers almost to yourself. The Singular’s expert team of guides host expeditions throughout this remote and spectacular region; you can navigate the waterways, trek past icebergs, kayak, explore by mountain bike or on horseback or visit a working Patagonian sheep farm.

Accommodation: The Singular Patagonia ( 2 nights )
Day 8-11

Torres del Paine, Chile

Time to submerge in the limitless wilderness of Torres del Paine, one of the South America’s most exceptional National Parks.  Ultimate luxury awaits you again at Awasi Patagonia, the sister property to where you stayed in San Pedro de Atacama, where you can expect the same unprecedented private guiding and personal service, but the feel and style of the lodge is very different. Architectural genius and style with remote villas and private hot tubs can only lead you to absorbing the vast and unprecedented landscape that surrounds you.

Awasi Patagonia is nestled just outside the national park, up high and affording incredible views to Torres del Paine. Here, the continent falls away in a dazzling explosion of imposing glaciers, deep blue lakes, iridescent icebergs, waterfalls and spectacular jagged peaks. Awasi’s stand-alone cabins augment the sense of remoteness and allow you to feel you really have this incredible place to yourselves. Enjoy a whole host of exciting outdoor activities from trekking and horse riding to mountain biking and glacier visits.  Awasi Puma Foundation

Nestled in the spectacular valley amongst nearly 4,500 acres of vineyards, hills and native woodland, Vik Chile is undoubtedly one of South America's top vineyards, and offers rustic refinement and unparalleled service for a truly memorable wine stay.  Everything points to the breath-taking views towards the distant Andes, and across the estate with its highly photogenic vineyards.
