For those looking for a sleek, minimalist and contemporary boutique hotel in Linfen, the Kedao is recommended. Opened in 2016, the hotel has used natural materials including grey marble, clear glass and dark wood to create a stylish modern place to stay, accessorised with modern Chinese art and artefacts. The sophisticated palette is a restful mix of creams, ivory and olive; the en-suite bathrooms are spacious and indulgent and there is the option to enjoy a balcony with loungers and views across the Yellow River, city and surrounding area.

 

There are 95 spacious guestrooms spread across six floors and standard amenities include air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, en-suite with separate bathtub and shower, flat-screen satellite TV, minibar, safe and blackout blinds. Furnishings are high quality and opulent, while textiles are plush and tactile. Larger rooms include a separate open-plan living area, balcony with loungers and huge free-standing deep-soak bathtubs. While there is no restaurant, a buffet breakfast is available (chargeable) and guests can enjoy a drink on the rooftop terrace overlooking the city or in the hotel’s attractive gardens. The service is helpful and attentive and Linfen city is a short drive away. The nearest airport is Linfen which is around a 40-minute drive away, while the spectacular Hukou Waterfall is around two to three hours by car.
