Anji & Moganshan
Surrounded by over 60,000 hectares of lush bamboo groves, mountain ridges and the famous white tea plantations, Anji is a magical eco-retreat within easy access from Hangzhou. Just adjacent to Anji is the famed Moganshan, known for its cool temperatures, hot springs and countryback lifestyle.
A place of calm scenery, Anji also serves as the backdrop for the Oscar-winning blockbuster "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". Anji is famously known as the first National Ecological County in China for its pollution-free produces such as the bamboo shoots and the rare Anji Bai Cha or white tea which has tremendous health benefits. As many as 40 bamboo species are known to exist in the area. Anji produces 12 million bamboo poles every year, making it China's highest producer of bamboo.
Surrounded with chic 19th century mansions and luxe retreats, Moganshan has long been dubbed the Hamptons of China, attracting elites from Shanghai and Eastern China into the region. While rolling tea plantations, farmlands and hot springs provide plenty of relaxation avenues, there are also plenty of hiking and cycling trails around the mountain for the active travellers.
