Gyantze
In a land known for the Buddhist religion, Gyantze is instead hailed as the City of Hero for its determination and heroic spirit during an invasion in 1904. A well-preserved Tibetan town positioned between Lhasa and Shigatse, the town was once a rich trading hub as a branch of the Friendship highway, a route that connects Nepal and Lhasa.
Enjoy panoramic views of the cultural old town from Gyantze Dzong perched atop a hill right in the heart of Gyantze. Head to Pelkor Chode Monastery, a magnificent architectural feat and the largest surviving Choten in Tibet.
