Best Time to Visit Denmark

Denmark is very much a year round destination, with a pleasant climate throughout the year, making it the least extreme of the Scandinavian countries. Denmark has glorious long days from May to August, where the temperatures are mild, sitting between 15°C and 20°C. This is a wonderful time to enjoy the countryside full in bloom, with its many hiking trails and plentiful birdwatching – but the popular spots can start to get busy. Autumn will bring fewer crowds and mellowing temperatures to enjoy the beauty of the country. The weather between September and November starts to cool, with temperatures slowly dropping from 18°C to 8°C and the crowds start to dissipate. However, rainfall levels are more or less constant throughout the year, with an annual average of 61cm, with the west tending to be wetter than the east.

The city of Copenhagen very much welcomes visitors all year round, but to experience the city come alive, then May through to September sees the vibrant café culture spill out onto the streets, with many events and festivals to attend.
