Hotel Les Suites - Maison Bouvier is the first 5* hotel in the resort of Tignes. Close to the slopes, in the heart of Val Claret, it’s a luxury boutique offering, blending traditional alpine chalet architecture with contemporary design, with an exciting focus on gastronomy. Owned and managed by the husband and wife team Jean-Michel and Catherine Bouvier who have a pedigree track record in stylish hospitality, the hotel is the resort’s most luxurious place to stay. Jean-Michel is the chef and is in charge of everything from breakfast through to dinner, whilst Catherine’s extraordinary eye for design can be admired everywhere, and even copied, with a shop in the hotel itself.
With 31 rooms and suites, guests can choose between the Classique and the Tradition - the latter being slightly larger in size. Each one is individually styled and decorated, and they are all both spacious and truly luxurious. Comprising either one or two bedrooms, they are ideal for couples or families with older children.
There is a lively bar just off the reception area - the Whitney Bar - which has a real buzz about the place. With its excellent selection of cocktails and comfy sofas - it's a lovely place for relaxing with an aperitif before dinner or a few drinks after. The hotel's own gastronomic restaurant is headed up by Jean-Michel and serves a mouth-watering selection of Savoyard cuisine - including a stunning fish dish with the main ingredient coming straight from Lake Geneva. A wonderful buffet greets you each morning for breakfast with a hearty choice of fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, bread, meats and cheeses to set you up for a great day on the slopes. Jean-Michel also owns and runs the Panoramic restaurant on the Grande Motte glacier. At 3032m above sea level, the 360 degree views from here are astounding and the food doesn't disappoint either.
Access to the slopes couldn't be easier. They are just 100m from the door and since the hotel can arrange your ski passes, there's no need to spend time in a queue when you arrive. The staff at Hotel Les Suites are incredibly friendly and provide an excellent, personal level of service, taking care of your every need. The concierge service can organise restaurant bookings and babysitting.
Tignes is at the heart of the Tarentaise valley and part of the vast Espace Killy. Linked to its sister resort Val d'Isere, it has over 300km of pistes and is arguably one of the world’s best ski areas. Its altitude means that it has one of France's highest snow sure factors, and with terrain suitable for every level and an exceptionally good lift system, it's a great ski destination.
When to visit
Look out for the ice caves on the run down to Tignes Les Brevieres - well worth a stop.
