Rawla Narlai is a fantastic little heritage hotel, located on the edge of a busy village. Set in the heart of the Aravalli Hills at the foot of a huge, granite rock the hotel is surrounded by forest and stunning countryside. In short, Rawla Narlai provides a great juxtaposition to busy city life.
With its close proximity to Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh, Narlai is the perfect stopping point between Jodhpur and Udaipur. The building itself dates back to the 17th century and was once a favourite hunting lodge if the Jodhpur Royal Family who to this day still own it, and have spend considerable time in renovating the property to bring it up to its current standard.
The thirty two rooms at Rawla Narlai are dotted all around the property and each varies significantly in shape, size and décor. There are also some smart, luxury tents in the garden by the pool.
The property remains small and well run, and depending on your preference, works well as either a stop over between cities or a pleasant place to spend a few days and relax and unwind. If you're feeling energetic then we suggest a climb to the top of the huge rock dome next to Fort Rawla with its elephant monument at the top. After, why not enjoy a stepwell dinner by torch light - an impossibly romantic way to end the day.
When to visit
If you fancy getting a different view of Narlai climb the huge boulder next to the hotel - do remember to take some water though as its thirsty work!
