Located on a tranquil private beach south of Diani on the southern Kenyan coast, Kinondo Kwetu is distanced from any residential neighbours by rocky cliffs and endless beach. The accommodation is surrounded by green shady gardens within a short distance of the white sands. Family-owned and run by Ida and Filip Andersson and their three children, a stay at Kinondo Kwetu is more like staying with friends in their delightful beach home than in a hotel.
Kinondo Kwetu can accommodate up to 38 guests in various cottage rooms and suites, all decorated in a typical Kenyan style, making the use of local traditional craftsmanship. The seven suites are contained in the Mama Taa Villa with four upstairs and three downstairs. Three are doubles while the other four have either a double, twin or single room as a second bedroom. All rooms are en-suite.
The three cottages are double rooms with en-suite bathrooms. The Mbuyu Cottage has a connecting single room while Beach House comprises two separate en-suite double bedrooms, one above the other.
The variety of suites, standalone cottages and family cottages mean Kinondo Kwetu caters well to couples, honeymooners and families and there are plenty of areas to relax in peace and quiet. In keeping with its barefoot character, not all rooms are air conditoned, if this is an important factor please discuss this with your consultant.
In addition to relaxing in the sun and swimming in the Indian Ocean, Kinondo Kwetu offers an impressive selection of exciting activities ranging from snorkelling to deep-sea fishing, horse riding and yoga. There is one very large and one smaller outdoor pool, a tennis court and also an exercise area. Massage and beauty treatments are offered and there is also a wood-fired sauna.
The resort sits right in the beautiful white sandy beach, which is tidal, like much of the east African coastline.
