The Maldives has a tropical climate distinguished by two seasons, or monsoons: the dry northeast monsoon from December to March, and the wet southwestern monsoon from May to November, with more strong winds and rain. April is a transitional period noted for clear water and heat. The temperature remains remarkably consistent at around 30°C.

February to April is the hottest period and resorts are almost all operating at capacity during this period. Mid-December to early January comes at even more of a premium due to Christmas and New Year and prices are even higher. Easter and the Italian holiday week in August also attract peak prices at most resorts.

Storms are more likely from May to November, though it’s still warm, skies can be cloudy and the humidity is higher. This is the low season, with fewer people and lower prices, with the exception of August.

Diving is good year-round, although a basic rule is that life on the reef is more varied and visibility better on the western side of any atoll from May to November and from the eastern side of any atoll December to April.

The surfing season runs from March to October, which is when resorts are cheapest.

Day 1-6

Robinson Crusoe Adventure

After a 20-minute speedboat ride from Male begin your escape at the first 'all-over-water' villa resort in the Maldives. Gili Lankanfushi boasts palatial villas-on-stilts and ultimate privacy - lie on the luxurious trapezes suspended over the crystal-clear waters while looking out to sea, or chill in the shade on the hidden rooftop sundeck with day beds. Just a telephone call away is your Mr Friday, your private butler there to meet your every need. Upon arrival you can adopt the No News and No Shoes way of life and simply switch off from the outside world.

Discover Remote Laamu Atoll

Recharged and refreshed, you journey will continue to Six Senses Laamu, located in the virtually un-chartered Laamu atoll. There is plenty on offer for every guest, with superb diving and snorkelling over stunning coral reefs and an abundance of marine life. Dolphins play freely in the waves around the island and you can watch these amazing creatures up close on your own private Sunset Dolphin Cruise with a glass of prosecco in hand and delicious canapés.

For those in search of an adrenaline rush, Laamu is one of the best places in the Maldives for surfing, with the Ying Yang wave that breaks just off shore. You can also windsurf, catamaran sail, wake board and water ski. There is something for everyone and you will feel rejuvenated and revived at the end of your holiday.
