Best Time to Visit the Middle East

Oman is an oasis during the winter months. The Arabian Peninsula will experience lower temperatures, although this can make some areas busier as it is a far more comfortable climate to visit the ornate palaces and bustling souks in Oman and Jordan. The coast of Muscat lends itself perfectly to a relaxing winter sun escape, whereas the mountains are far cooler for epic treks and spectacular scenery. The best time to visit the UAE is between October and November and then February and March, when temperatures hang around the mid-20s and the humidity is under control.

Jordan blooms in spring, with the wildflowers and roses bursting into life, the mountains sprout greenery and the temperatures are cooler and far more comfortable to explore this jewel of the Middle East. March can be cold and rainy in the north but is balmy in Feynan, by the Gulf of Aqaba and the Dead Sea. Oman will see slightly higher temperature meaning the crowds will start to dwindle. This is also a very good time to visit the UAE before the heat peaks in the summer, the month of Ramadan in April to May brings lower hotel rates. The Dubai World Cup takes place in March, being the world’s wealthiest horse race.

To beat the crowds in the Middle East and benefit from discounted hotel rates, high summer is a good option, but it will be the extremes of heat and humidity, reside on the coast with the chance of a breeze to help cool the air. Oman is oppressively hot and hazy, particularly between May and August. Jordan is a better option in the summer months as the temperatures are yet to peak and there is far less humidity, Petra and Wadi Rum are both fantastic options at this time of year. Or head to the cooler mountain regions away from the heat of the desert to enjoy the night stars and balmy air.

The heat starts to ebb away in Autumn; September can still be very hot but by October and November you will see comfortable temperatures and less humidity, making it a great option to travel to the Middle East and experience the best of Oman, UAE and Jordan. Beat the growing crowds in Autumn before the build of the busier festive period in December and January, also a prime time to hit the malls of the UAE and the traditional souks of Oman and Jordan, ahead of Christmas. Marvelling at the sights, architecture, ruins and landscapes throughout Jordan is a breath-taking experience at this time of year.
