Chitwan National Park, Nepal
  • Beautiful view of the intriguing jungle across Rapti River

  • Quaint thatched cottages with traditional Nepali furnishings

  • Pamper yourself with a massage or spa after a day of safari

Sitting on the Rapti River which snakes around Chitwan National Park, the Barahi Jungle Lodge in Meghauli offers a superb standard of accommodation for jungle and wildlife adventures. Blending seamlessly into the natural environment, the Lodge has been thoughtfully crafted from local wood and bamboo and offers superb views of both the river and park.

Known for both its exceptional service and hospitality, the resort has also won several awards for expertise in customising wildlife experiences for guests, as well as for its sustainability and eco-sensitive policies and practices.

The accommodation is dotted throughout the resort in 18 single and 8 duplex thatched cottages, all of which enjoy private verandas and balconies from which to enjoy the atmospheric scenery. Amenities include air conditioning, ceiling fan, comfortable and rustic furniture made from local bamboo and sustainable wood, flatscreen TV, minibar, electric kettle, tiled floors and ensuite bathroom with hairdryer. Guests also enjoy access to Wi-Fi in public areas.

The light and airy Banyan Café serves dishes crafted from local organic produce, with glorious views of the surrounding jungle and river. While Nepalese cuisine dominates, there is also a good selection of Chinese, Indian, Thai and more international dishes. The Turtle Deck is the perfect place to cosy up with a chai and book, while the Tiger’s Den is a relaxed and convivial bar with uninterrupted jungle views.

Guests can enjoy lounging around the large infinity pool or indulging in the Ayurvedic Spa. A highlight is the resort’s resident four elephants who enjoy meeting all the guests. Each guest is assigned a personal and knowledgeable naturalist guide for jungle walks and safaris, as well as boat trips. Activities include a day-long trek to a waterfall in the heart of the jungle, a flame-lit bush dinner, a stroll around the local villages and a chance to meet the Tharu tribe. There are also nightly dance performances, jugglers, and fire eaters providing local entertainment.
