Nyungwe House is situated on the edge of the Nyungwe National Park and stunningly set in the grounds of a tea-plantation. The Lodge boasts impressive views overlooking the rainforest canopy and the rugged Rwandan mountains. The major attraction in this area is of course the chimpanzees and other primates which call the Nyungwe Forest National Park home.
Activities are tailored to the individual and guided walks can last anything from 1 to 7 hours. The most popular walking excursions available include chimpanzee trekking, black and white colobus monkey trekking, grey–cheeked mangabey trekking, the Kamiranzovu Swamps and Waterfall walks, Bird watching and cultural walks.
Nyungwe Hosue consists of 24 luxury rooms all with views of the lush green forest canopy. All of the rooms feature private decks to make the most of the views, a fireplace to ward off the cool evenings, en-suite bathroom with indoor shower and deep baths, air conditioning, electronic safe, flatscreen TV, hairdryer and mini bar.
The lodge also has an outdoor-heated swimming pool with fantastic views of the forest, a relaxation retreat with two treatment rooms providing various massages and spa-treatments and a fitness centre. There is also a boma in the main lodge, enjoy alfresco drinks or dining with breath-taking panoramic views.
