Things to Do in Rwanda
The best things to do in Rwanda focus around the country’s beautiful wildlife, landscapes and people. The main and most popular is trekking the endangered mountain gorilla. There truly is nothing else like it in the world—looking deep into the expressive brown eyes of these gentle giants is an extremely special privilege and an unforgettable encounter. The trekking duration and conditions can vary but a moderate level of fitness is highly recommended.
There are other primates you can trek in Rwanda as well: playful chimps, curious colobus monkeys and cheeky golden monkeys. There is also the opportunity for more traditional safari activities such as game drives, nature walks and bird watching. If culture and history is of interest to you, a community visit, tea plantation tour or trip to the Dian Fossey Museum could be of interest. Additionally, the capital of Kigali is a great place to learn about the history of Rwanda by visting Genocide Museum—a heavy experience but one we feel is really important.
