Yala National Park
Renowned for its leopard population, Yala National Park is a diverse topography of grasslands, scrub, forest, and water-bodies; a rich eco-system that hosts a wealth of wildlife, including elephants, crocodiles, monkeys and the famed leopards. Straddling the southern coastline, its wetlands, lagoons and coastal terrain are also home to a vast range of birds.
While Yala boasts one of the densest leopard populations in the world, they’re notoriously elusive so head out in the early morning or at dusk to have the best chance of sighting their glossy spots. Jeep safaris with an expert guide and tracker bring this park alive with mounting excitement at every pugmark and telltale scratch.
