Visitors flock to popular beaches like Anse Chastanet to soak up the sun and enjoy snorkelling and diving in crystal-clear waters. The St Lucia Jazz Festival in January (which carries on until May) attracts music lovers from around the world, offering a lineup of international and local artists. Christmas and New Year celebrations are vibrant, with local festivals, street parties, and fireworks. This is also an excellent time to explore the island's botanical gardens, such as Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens, where the lush flora is in full bloom. St Lucia in December to February is when you’ll find dry, sunny days, which is the most comfortable weather for outdoor activities and sightseeing.

Spring in St Lucia offers a transition from the dry to the wet season, with warm temperatures averaging around 28°C. With fewer tourists, it’s the ideal time to enjoy the natural beauty and cultural richness of St Lucia without the crowds. March and April are particularly pleasant, with low humidity and minimal rainfall, making it an excellent time for hiking the Pitons or exploring the island’s numerous waterfalls, like the Toraille Waterfall. The island's vibrant flora is on display during spring, perfect for nature walks and bird watching. And it’s a fun time to join a Fish Fry event, which happens every Friday night in the charming fishing town of Anse La Raye, just south of Marigot Bay. You’ll be greeted with a fun carnival scene, lively soca and reggae music, and plenty of delicious, freshly caught seafood grilling on barbecues and coal pots.

Summer is hot and marks the start of St Lucia’s rainy and hurricane season. Average temperatures hover around 29°C, with frequent afternoon showers and potential storms. Despite the wetter weather, there are plenty of activities to enjoy. Visit the Sulphur Springs in Soufrière, where you can take a dip in the therapeutic mud baths. For adventure seekers, summer is ideal for exploring the lush rainforests and hiking the Gros Piton. The Fisherman’s Feast on the last Sunday in June is a fun festival celebrating the island's fishing heritage with boat races, seafood feasts, and music. Additionally, Carnival in July is a major highlight, featuring colourful parades, calypso music, and buzzy street parties. While summer might not be the best time to visit St Lucia for the weather, it is a great time for those who would like fewer crowds and a more authentic island experience.

St Lucia’s hurricane season continues into autumn, with September and October being the rainiest months. Temperatures remain warm, averaging around 28°C and it can be very humid. We would recommend holding out for the better weather in St Lucia in November. However, if you do visit earlier in autumn, you’ll find the French Creole Heritage Month in October, which is a month of music, dance, cuisine, art and more to celebrate the Creole culture. And the reduced tourist numbers in autumn also mean better value on flights and hotels. Although the weather can be unpredictable, it is unlikely to rain the entire time.
