Kigelia Ruaha is an elegantly simplistic camp, set in the best game area of the vast Ruaha National Park, high on the banks of the Ifuguru sand river. Here the charming and airy tents are set beneath the boughs of the Sausage Tree (Kigella Africana) from which the camp takes its name. The camp is the ideal place from which to set out exploring the immense wilderness that surrounds you.
Each of the six individual tents are spacious and well furnished with natural and locally crafted pale wood furniture. Your en-suite bathroom has a hot safari-style bucket shower under the stars and a flush loo. Each has a mokuti thatch roof to keep it cool during the hotter months.
After a thrilling and exhausting day of game viewing you can unwind around the camp-fire with your sundowners, gazing at the baobab silhouettes and the stars. Simple but delicious meals can be served to you around the fire or in the separate dining tent.
From sunrise to sunset, Ruaha National Park is full of adventure and unique African beauty. The very comfortable 4WD cars allow you to enjoy your game drives without the drawback of an aching posterior. Expect to stumble upon lions, leopards, cheetah, zebra, giraffe and baboons among many others, all the while being serenaded by birdsong from the wonderful and prolific bird life.
