Average time to visit

Uganda can be visited at any time of year. Most of Uganda enjoys the perfect tropical climate. Temperatures average about 26°C during the day and 16°C at night. The hottest months are from December to February. There is higher humidity between March and May, when the long rains fall. The short rains fall from early October to mid December. The best time to visit is usually July to February.

Kenya is a dry country, with regional variations in temperature and rainfall. On the coast, the weather is tropical with high humidity in April and May, and occasional monsoon winds. Inland (including the Central Highlands and Rift Valley) the climate is temperate. The long rains fall from March to May and the short rains fall from late October to December. The best time to visit is usually July to February, and the wildebeest migration usually occurs from mid-July to September.

Fly to Entebbe

Day 1-2

Entebbe, Uganda

Your itinerary starts in Entebbe where you will spend the night, before setting off on your wild East African adventure. Arrive at your quiet guesthouse where you can relax and unwind from your long haul flight by the turquoise waters of the swimming pool.

Day 2-5

National Parks and Reserves, Uganda

You will fly west to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where you will have the exhilarating experience of trekking (and sometimes climbing) to see the rare mountain gorillas. Guests are able to spend an hour with these gentle giants, watching as the families interact and play with each other in the thick foliage. Watch as the silverback keeps a gentle eye from a distance as his family eat, groom and rest in their forest home. During your three night stay in Bwindi you will be fortunate enough to visit two different gorilla families.

Day 5-8

Kibale Forest, Uganda

Fly from Bwindi to the Kibale Forest. Here you will meet another member of the great ape family, the resident chimpanzees. Hike into the dense green foliage in search of Chimpanzees high in the trees and listen out for their shrill vocalisations, again you will spend an hour in their company, watching as they feed, play and communicate with each other. A visit to nearby Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, will also allow you to witness several other primate species as well as a plethora of more than 200 incredible and unique bird species, a must for any naturalist.

Day 8-9

Nairobi, Kenya

Fly from Kibale back to Entebbe where you will catch your onward flight to Nairobi, Kenya. Your one night in Nairobi will be spent at the world-famous Giraffe Manor. One of Nairobi’s most iconic buildings, this stately home is set amongst 12 acres of private land which is home to a herd of resident Rothschild’s giraffe. Every morning and evening these popular residents like to make an appearance. The highlight of your stay will certainly be the renowned Giraffe Manor breakfast, where you can expect to be interrupted by your long-necked friends as they stick their heads through the window in the hope of a snack.

Day 9-12

Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

From Nairobi you will fly to the impressive Maasai Mara. Enjoy three nights on safari in one of Kenya’s premier wildlife reserves; here the endless grasslands are broken up by tree-lined rivers and the abundance of animals includes cheetah, lion, rhino, elephant, giraffe, buffalo and the spectacular annual wildebeest migration. Explore the plains on morning and afternoon 4x4 games drives, get up close to nature on fascinating walking safaris and dine under the stars on bush dinners.
