The Four Seasons Lana'i at Manele Bay sits in a prime position overlooking the sweeping sands of Manele Bay on the sleepy Hawaiian island of Lana'i and attracts golfers, honeymooners and families seeking relaxation, unspoiled surroundings and pampering.
The epitome of relaxation and luxury, the perfect decadent bolthole to flop after exploring these beautiful islands
Even if golf isn’t your thing, it’s well worth the jaunt up to the top of the hill to the post golf watering hole and restaurant, Views, for the most heavenly views out to the island and ocean
Learn sushi making from the masters at Nobu, take a seat on one of the stools, grab a glass of your favourite tipple and let them inspire you
Grab your snorkel and dive in to Hulopoe Bay in search of an abundance of colourful coral and the occasional spinner dolphin
The island of Lana'i which lies about 9 miles from Maui, is charming old-school Hawaii: an island with no traffic lights, a 'city' the size of a village and all untouched by mass development. No wonder that Larry Ellison decided to buy the island and has ambitious plans to make it self-sustainable.
The Four Seasons at Manele Bay sits overlooking Hulopoe Bay a sweep of golden sand edged with palms and lapped by turquoise waters, which at times become the resting place of hundreds of spinner dolphins who come to snooze in the quiet waters. The hotel is all about peace, relaxation and switching off all the while being looked after by friendly and professional staff. The team of 22 gardeners have created a tropical paradise of vibrant and scented plants, pools and waterfalls. Golf is also a major draw with two prestigious golf courses.
The guest rooms and suites reflect the islands old-world charm and colonial plantation history with carved wooden headboards, wicker and bamboo furniture and antique prints. They all come with private lanai's (covered terraces).
The focal point of the hotel is the oval swimming pool with built in whirl pools which seems to blend in with the ocean behind, surrounded by shaded loungers and private cabanas. Hulopoe beach is a short walk down the hill, the Four Seasons staff offer beach services – including complimentary use of snorkelling equipment (including prescription masks), lounge chairs and towels.
Lana'i may be sleepy, but it's no culinary backwater with guests able to enjoy the modern-Japanese fusion delights of Nobu Lana'i in a gorgeous relaxed semi open-air setting, all pale grey wicker and natural wood. One Forty serves prime surf and turf including wagyu beef from Snake River Farms and local Hawaiian catch. To complete the trio Kailani specialising in contemporary Italian cuisine made from the freshest local and organic ingredients, sourced directly from Hawaii’s fishers and farmers.
The spa offers a wide range of treatments including some which use traditional Hawaiian therapies.
Aside from the pool and beach, there are three tennis courts and the two golf courses and the children will be kept entertained at the Kids for All Seasons.
