Wonderful golden sands and lagoon-like waters make this the perfect spot for a Florida beach holiday
Extensive facilities which cater perfectly to families, including golf courses, tennis courts and a children's club & entertainment centre

Set on over 107 stunning acres of manicured gardens, lawns and golf courses, The Breakers offers guests a sprawling retreat on the sun-drenched coast of Palm Beach. The hotel's incredible character, fascinating history and impeccable facilities make this place an idyllic getaway for all the family.
Built in 1896 buy oil and real estate tycoon Henry Flagler, The Breakers has been standing in Palm Beach before the town was even established. First built to accommodate travellers heading down the coast on Flagler's Florida East Coast Railway, the hotel remains the destination of choice for many wealthy families. The hotel has a fascinating and sometimes chequered history (ask about the rum boats that serviced the hotel when liquor was illegal) and was burned down twice in the early 20th century. Following an incredible effort to rebuild the hotel in 1926 and yearly multi-million dollar refurbishments, The Breakers today is far grander than any of its predecessor buildings and is one of the finest hotels in Florida.
Set over half a mile of wonderful golden sands with lagoon like waters and a reef close by for a spot of snorkelling, it is the perfect spot for a beach front holiday. On windier days, the seas rise high enough for a spot of gentle surfing for those brave enough whilst others can simply walk the beach or enjoy one of the five pools for something gentler. Guests can begin their day with a delicious breakfast at The Circle followed by a morning on the golf course or at the tennis club. Enjoy lunch at the famed Ocean Club, so you need not move too far from your sun loungers during the day or opt for one of the decadent pool side bungalows if you wish to be waited on hand and foot. Afternoons are for relaxing and enjoying the beach; try kayaking, paddle boarding or hop aboard the resort's Hobie Cat boat for a Catamaran Cruise.
For families, this is the ideal place to be. Not only is there a wealth of facilities available, but there is also a whole Family Entertainment Centre available for them, so little ones will never be bored. Children’s programmes, which include anything from glitter tattoos to turtle experiences, are available and run daily for an additional charge. Evening programmes are also available should you wish a table for two for dinner on occasion.
Golf enthusiasts will be in heaven with 36 holes of historic Ocean Golf Course and the contemporary Rees Jones Course at Break Waters on site, as well as two state of the art learning centres of the John Webster golf academy. 10 tennis courts with pros on hand will be sure to improve your tennis game as well. If you can tear yourselves away from the abundant facilities on site then downtown Palm Beach, with fantastic shopping and restaurants, is only 15 minutes' drive away. The fine art galleries, designer shopping and fine dining of old Palm Beach are even closer. However, with nine restaurants on site you will be spoilt for choice for dining opportunities at the hotel. The Top of the Point restaurant assures wonderful night time views.
Accommodation options are simple here. The ocean front rooms are the only ones with balconies and so are highly recommended and coveted, although are not suitable for children under the age of 6. Being a historic building, you will not find balconies anywhere else. The one bedroom suites offer the best views and can be extended to up to five bedrooms for larger families.
When to visit
The Entertainment Centre and Italian restaurant are just one of many reasons why this hotel is excellent for families
