There are two very distinct seasons at the Victoria Falls, the wet/flood season and the dry season. These seasons do not reflect the quantity of rain, rather reflect the volume of flow of the Zambezi River. From around March through to July the river surges in size as the rainfall in Angola and Zambia from months before swells the current. The falls are at their most dramatic at this time of year with huge columns of spray. The nights are cold and the days warm at this time of year. From around September to January the water levels drop, the falls are more accessible and views are clearer as the flow can drop in volume by 90%. It is worth noting that the rains come from late October through to February, this combined with high heat, 40 celcius or more, in October and November, causes high levels of humidity.

Day 1-3

Victoria Falls, Zambia

Start as you mean to go in by taking a private helicopter transfer to the exquisite award-winning Royal Chunda River Lodge.  Plunging straight into remote Zambia, you will be taken to this indulgent hideaway right on the banks of the river.  Royal Chundu is the only lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River near the Victoria Falls which has its very own stretch of private riverbank.  This is the first and still the only Zambian lodge to have Relais & Chateau status, as part of this exclusive club of worldwide properties, you can be sure that the staff and service levels are of the highest quality.

Just 30km upstream from the falls, perfect to enjoy the vast amount of activities in the area, but also to relax in this magical location with the mighty Zambezi at your feet.

Accommodation: Royal Chundu River Lodge ( 2 nights )
Day 3-7

Liuwa Plain National Park, Zambia

Today your morning begins with a transfer back to Livingstone Airport where you will catch a flight to the Kalabo Airstrip in Kafue. On arrival into Kalabo Airstrip your pilot will meet you and brief you before you take the 15-minute scenic helicopter transfer into King Lewanika Lodge in Liuwa Plain National Park where you will be spending the next three nights.

This stunning lodge is the only permanent lodge in the whole of the Liuwa Plain National Park, so your stay here is one of complete exclusivity and intimacy. Your next three days will be spent on day and night game drives and heading out on walking and canoeing safaris. Liuwa Plain is home to Africa's second largest wildebeest migration, stunning birdlife and a growing cheetah population, as well as the famous Lady Liuwa lion pride.

Accommodation: King Lewanika ( 4 nights )
Day 7-11

Kafue National Park, Kafue and western Zambia, Zambia

This morning your trip continues as you take the short helicopter trip back to Kalabo Airstrip where you will catch your flight to Kafue National Park.

On arrival into Kafue, you will take a private transfer to the Busanga Plains where you will spend the next four nights at Shumba Camp. This elegant camp is found on a tee island in the centre of the plains with floodplain views seemingly going on forever. During a stay here everything is included, from food and drink to activities. For the next four days we recommend making the most out of the game activities in the area - go on exciting game drives, scenic boat trips, and atmospheric night drives. One thing that should not be missed is getting up early to take a hot air balloon over the Busanga Plains - a truly breath-taking experience.
