The Franschhoek is a superb small luxury guesthouse situated in the heart of what many regard as the most picturesque village in the Cape Winelands, Franschhoek. The village is a wine and food lovers delight and a haven for artists and those looking to explore the area.

The Last Word Franschhoek is only a few minutes’ walk from numerous character-filled, boutique-style shops, art galleries, antique shops and several excellent restaurants (three of which are rated within the top 10 in South Africa). The guesthouse itself has a charming home-away-from-home feel, with light and airy rooms and an honesty bar in the lounge.

The host and staff pride themselves on personal service and can arrange a number of activities including wine tours, golf at two championship courses, horse riding, hiking, fly-fishing and bird-watching as well as recommending the best restaurants in town and acquiring tables there for their guests.

Accommodation consists of eight large luxury rooms with en-suite bathrooms each with their own traditional Cape charm, and two pool suites that each have their own small courtyard and pool, with a connecting door between the two courtyards that can be unlocked if taken by a family or group.

The Last Word is situated in the heart of Franschhoek village, the gourmet capital of South Africa. It’s only a minute’s walk from the many excellent award-winning restaurants and numerous character-filled boutique style shops and art galleries. Surrounding areas such as Paarl, Stellenbosch and Cape Town can be explored from here.

12 hour international flight from London to Cape Town. The Cape Town International airport is only 50 minutes drive from Franschhoek and it is recommended that the valley be explored by vehicle (which can be collected at the airport or alternatively delivered at the hotel).
