Very much resembling a chalet with its cosy ambiance and alpine themed interiors, La Cordée des Alpes leapt onto Verbier's hotel scene in December 2012 and is one of our favourite places to stay in Verbier.
From the moment you enter this four star haven, you'll immediately be made to feel at home by the highly polished team on hand to welcome you and look after you for the duration of your holiday. The refined atmosphere exudes at every turn in a harmony of old and new, with much of the inspiration coming from hotels from the early 1900s, with an emphasis very much on using traditional wood but without feeling oppressive. At the same time, the hotel manages to maintain an incredibly high standard of modern comfort and facilities, and feels very much like an elegant mountain retreat.
The hotel has a peaceful location in a quieter part of Verbier, yet still very much in the heart of Verbier, close to the restaurants and shops in the resort. A shuttle bus whisks guests to the lifts to start their ski day each morning.
After an exhilarating day on the slopes, a veritable smorgasboard of facilities lie in wait on your return to the hotel. Head straight for the Spa Cinq Mondes to unwind and be pampered, where you can choose to swim in the 15m pool, ease aching limbs in the jacuzzi, Turkish bath or sauna or indulge in a massage. Sporty-types can exercise to their heart's content in the small gym. The spa can also be privatised on request in the evenings.
When it comes to eating, La Cordée Restaurant offers a wonderfully intimate dining experience with cosy booths and the focus very much on Swiss and Italian inspired cuisine. We would highly recommend taking a seat at the bar with a glass of Fendant and watching Chef Marco Bassi and his team at work preparing mouth-watering seasonal dishes in the open plan kitchen.
