Located within the Shungi Mbili Marine Reserve, Thanda Island is an exclusive villa for private use which comes complete with a team of dedicated staff to cater to your every need. Surrounding the villa, a forested island interior gives way to white, powdery sand and sparkling waters creating an idyllic desert island escape. This is the perfect retreat for family celebrations or a group of friends wishing to travel together, accommodating up to 18 adults and 9 children.
Five bedroom suites with king-size beds are housed in the main villa, each of which can accommodate two adults and additional beds for children. The main villa is tastefully furnished, with the spacious living room and dining area boasting 180-degree ocean views and commanding attention. There are also two double story rustic wooden beach front bandas, all open to allow the sea air to drift through.
Not only is Thanda Island fully equipped with everything you could possibly need during your stay, facilities include a range of thoughtful extras from the practical, such as a pizza oven, cocktail bar, BBQ and outdoor baths, to the extravagant including a Steinway piano, indoor aquarium and cigar humidor.
Whilst relaxation is always an option on the beach or by the pool, the island also offers up ample opportunity for fun and adventures both on land and at sea. Boasting a private coral reef, the waters are ideal for snorkelling and between the months of October and February you can find yourself getting up close to impressive whale sharks. A host of water sports equipment is provided for kayaking, jet-skiing, paddle-boarding and deep sea fishing and games such as volleyball and table tennis are also available.

Thanda Island sits within the Shungi Mbili Island Marine Reserve, part of the Mafia Island district and located between Mafia Island and mainland Tanzania.
Fly to Dar Es Salaam, approx. 11 hours. From here you can take a 45-minute helicopter flight direct to Thanda Island. Alternatively, fly to Mafia Island (30 minutes) where staff from Thanda Island will meet you to assist with a boat transfer to the island (approx. 30 minutes).
