Coming from a tropical country which is hot and sunny year round, my love for travel was ignited when I first saw snow at the tender age of five.

I remember feeling like it was the most magical thing ever and made me wonder what other extraordinary sights and adventures were out there for me to experience. Since then, I have made it a point to visit at least one new country every year. As a huge foodie, I love being able to explore a destination through its local cuisine and flavors.

At 18 years old, I went on my graduation trip with a bunch of close friends. We traveled to London, Paris and the Netherlands, and it was the first time I traveled without my parents. Although I was initially apprehensive to travel so far on my own, Iā€™m so glad I went - I met amazing people, made lots of new friends and had countless adventures on that trip. This trip really taught me how adrenaline-filled, empowering and liberating the feeling of travel can be!

It is my curiosity about the variations in cultures around the world that inspires me to keep crossing more borders. The next destinations I am looking to cross off my bucket list include Iceland, South Africa, and Morocco.

My top tips

  • The weather in Lapland can be extremely cold in the winter months, so do take note to pack thick innerwear, waterproof shoes for the snow, and disposable heat packs to keep warm.

  • Many islands are closed in Greece after the summer months, so do time your trip carefully to ensure you get the best out of your time there if you plan to island hop!

  • Having an Aperol Spritz with some cicchetti (small bar bites) is the classic way to enjoy Venice.
