Lili LeBaron
My first memories are filled with the desire to explore. From watching Anthony Bourdain and Samantha Brown as a kid to being enamored with seeing and experiencing the world, travel has been my happy place.
After finding myself in three different continents in three months, I was hooked. The people, the food, and the perspective travel allows is unparalleled, and experiences I wouldn't trade for anything.
My life has always revolved around my next adventure. After taking off a semester in college to explore Europe which then led to Australia and Asia I was hooked on the beauty of the planet we call home. It's hard to put into words the lessons you learn, and the life-changing experiences travel provides. From finding a hidden beach in Thailand to getting lost roaming the cities in Italy with gelato in hand I have never felt more at peace than when exploring. From my time living on a small island in Bali to houseboating in the middle of Australia and road-tripping through Ireland, I have left a piece of my heart in each of the places I have been. Every place has become a second home and has left an impression. With so much more to see some of my next adventures on the list include exploring the streets of Tokyo, renting a van in New Zealand, and rainforest hopping in Costa Rica. When thinking of travel, I like to say, "wherever I go, wherever I am it's hard to get lost when I feel like I'm home."
Favorite places I've been
My hot picks
-
Amanoi, Vinh Hy Bay, Vietnam
one of the most spectacular hotels I have ever seen. With its clean lines, amazing service, and a level of peacefulness like nothing I have experienced it is truly magnificent. -
Song Saa, Koh Rong Archipelago, Coastal Cambodia, Cambodia
Song Saa is a beautiful oasis off the coast of Cambodia. From the incredible service, lush accommodation, and magical experiences, including night swimming with bioluminescent plankton, Song Saa has a place in my heart. -
Zannier Hotel Phum Baitang, Siem Reap & Angkor Wat, Cambodia
A favorite of mine. With its close proximity to the darling and can't miss town of Siem Reap and infamous Angkor Wat, it is a Cambodian themed escape. With lush rice paddies, immaculate interior design, and a phenomenal spa it is the perfect retreat.
My top tips
-
Take your time while exploring. Spend as much time as you can roaming and putzing around, slowing down to see the pace of the locals and the life around you.
-
Speak with as many people as possible. Engage with your guides or as many locals as you can. These are the people that make a country, and you never know what you will learn and how it will change your life.
-
Don't be afraid to live like the locals. Eat the food, understand their lifestyle, and don't forget to relax into the pace of the country you are exploring. The best way to broaden your horizons and learn about another culture is to experience it.
