Estancia Los Potreros

Estancia Los Potreros is a 6,000-acre working cattle ranch and has remained in the same Anglo-Argentine family for four generations. Steeped in family history and Argentine culture, this charming estancia can accommodate horseback riders of all abilities and will give you a peek into the real gaucho lifestyle. The estancia is very secluded at an altitude of 3000ft in a vast private estate, nestled between the Pampas and the towering Andes. In fact, the estancia runs on 100% wind power and the property has no signage on the road so as to ensure their guest’s complete privacy.

Accommodation is simple yet comfortable and cozy. En-suite rooms are all individually furnished with gorgeous antique art and furniture, and there are fireplaces to help combat cold winter evenings creating a cozy atmosphere. Interiors showcase original stone walls, exposed wooden beams in the ceilings as well as rich locally made textiles. The chef at Estancia Los Potreros will spoil you with delicious cuisine using home grown organic vegetables and fruit, and evening cocktails on the porch are sure to be a highlight.  

With riding such a focus at the estancia, guests can rest assured that the horses are sure footed, of good temperament and in excellent condition. Polo lessons can be combined with long or short distance horseback rides, offering guests the unique opportunity to live and breathe the gaucho culture. With both Argentine and British style tackle rooms and 2 breeds of horse on offer it is truly a paradise for horse lovers. Other activities include helping with estancia farm work like herding cattle, feeding foals and rounding up the horses. Additionally you can enjoy charming walks in the surrounding countryside, visits to local wineries and bird watching. At the end of the day enjoy fabulous food and conversation under candle light back at the farm, accompanied by the other guests at the estancia.
