Six Senses Bumthang

Tucked away in the pine forests of Bumthang, this wooden lodge blends effortlessly into its evergreen surrounds, its wooden buildings nestled amongst the towering pines and surrounded by terraced farmlands, river valleys, ancient monasteries and palaces.

Bumthang, Bhutan
  • Nestled in a pine forest, the lodge sympathetically blends into its surrounds with a clever balance of natural materials and Bhutanese details

  • Floor-to-ceiling windows and muted, natural tones draw the eye to the spellbinding views

  • Home to one of the world-famous Six Senses Spas, with Hot Stone bath facilities

  • All 8 suites and a two-bedroom villa feature large decking areas to fully enjoy the beauty of the landscape

The most easterly of Bhutan’s Six Senses collection, Six Senses Bumthang lies in a landscape fit for royalty with the neighboring palace, Wangdichhoeling, and the Jakar Dzong, both located just a short drive from the lodge. A rushing stream and pine-clad mountains surround the lodge, while its clean lines, wooden structure and traditional Bhutanese detailing pay homage to the rich culture and history of this spellbinding valley.

With just nine rooms in total, made up of eight suites and one two-bedroom villa, the lodge is small, exclusive and combines both luxury and simplicity into one perfect package. Wooden walls and floor to ceiling windows create a sense of being cocooned in the forest itself, with crisp white linens and muted accent colors that draw inspiration from the colors of the trees, sky and hills beyond.

A serene retreat, Six Senses Bumthang offers a number of areas to unwind with a good book or gaze meditatively out at the ever-changing view. A small library provides a cozy escape, while the lounge and living room offer a calm space to sit back and soak in the breathtaking view. The all-day dining restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, while the renowned Six Senses Spa and Wellness Center has treatment rooms and Hot Stone Bath facilities, ideal for soothing body and mind after a day spent walking through the hills of Bumthang.

While you would be forgiven for arriving at Six Senses Bumthang and never leaving the welcoming embrace of its simple charms, the surrounding area offers a wealth of sites of interest, both natural and cultural. From the neighboring Wangdichhoeling Palace to the revered Kurjey Lhakhang, the Tamshing Monastery to the Red Panda Brewery, Bumthang boasts a diverse range of sights that belie its isolated location.
