Casa do Amarelindo is a charming 10-room hotel with plenty of character, set within a restored 19th Century colonial townhouse in the heart of the historic Pelourinho district of Salvador, a cultural gem in the Brazilian state of Bahia.
Located slap bang in the historic Pelourinho district of Salvador. Can be a little noisy as so central but such a vibrant and buzzy city
Good value for money and friendly service from French owners Gilles and Didier
Simple but stylish decor, and the hotel is well maintained throughout
Small roof top pool - one of the few in Pelourinho
Casa do Amarelindo is a boutique property located just off the main square (Quadrado) in the historic quarter of Salvador, classified a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1985 for its colorful houses, beautiful baroque churches, museums and cobbled streets, echoing batucada rhythms and capoeira shows.
Casa do Amarelindo has only 10 guest rooms which are simple yet luxurious, some with private terraces and bathrooms featuring either hydromasage bath tubs or rainfall showers. The interior decor has been inspired by Bahia's fascinating colonial history and African influence. The hotel benefits from a fantastic roof top terrace where you can enjoy an evening caipirinha while watching the sunset. It also has a small pool which has a gorgeous view over the rooftops and the sea beyond.
Walk the streets of Salvador and soak up the local culture with its baroque churches and cobbled streets lined with market stalls selling intricate local artifacts. Salvador is also renowned for its Afro-Latin music and there are often groups of musicians playing in the squares giving a vibrant, jazzy feel to the place.
When to visit
If staying on a Tuesday, keep your ears open for the group of local drummers which pass by right outside the hotel! It's a great way to experience the local culture and enjoy some energetic Bahian music!
