Battambang Holidays

Sleepy and unassuming, Battambang is one of Cambodia's most charming towns with beautiful colonial architecture stretching along its dusty streets. It once was surrounded by more temples than Siem Reap, but unfortunately some have fallen into disrepair. What's left is no less spectacular so this is a fantastic place to immerse in Cambodia's history without the crowds.

Battambang

Many consider Battambang as Siem Reap 15 or 20 years ago, so now is the time to go. However because of its old charm, accommodation can be very simple, so don't go here expecting to indulge. We think it's more than worth it for a couple of nights and that the small but simple accommodation add to its appeal. Some of the main highlights of the area are Wat Banan and Phnom Sampeu along with the Phare Ponleu Selpak, the home of Cambodia's famous circus. The area has been the birthplace for many of Cambodia's dancers, actors, singers and performing artists over the years so it has a slightly bohemian feel.
