Boat Trip on Tonle Sap Lake
Home to colorful floating villages and luminous mangroves, Tonlé Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and is just 45 minutes from Siem Reap. Spend time cruising the lake onboard a simple local boat, a perfect way to explore.
This wonderful experience gets you out of Siem Reap and the temples of Angkor to a more rural part of Cambodia, taking just 45 minutes. En-route to Tonle Sap you'll visit a local village before arriving at the jetty where you'll embark on a 1.5 hour ride on Tonle Sap Lake, also known as the Great Lake of Cambodia. Find out how communities live and work on the lake; see the floating schools, markets, and police stations as well as observing the locals go about their daily lives. Most of the inhabitants are ethnic Vietnamese and thus live slightly differently from the native Khmer communities. This provides an interesting comparison and insight into one of Cambodia's most important sub communities.
Afterwards your driver will take you back to your hotel in Siem Reap.
Please note this experience very much depends on water levels and therefore plans may have to change at the last minute.
