BC’s varied climate is influenced by latitude, elevation and ocean proximity but it’s generally warmer in the south and cooler in the north. Winters are mild in Vancouver and Victoria, with only brief snowfalls, while other regions – especially the north and the interior – are subject to freezing temperatures and heavy snow from November to March.

Tofino tends not to experience snowfall, however, is susceptible to impressive Pacific storms that are fascinating to watch from January to March

Spring and fall are often warm and pleasant but rainfall can be heavy, particularly on the coast. Summers (June to September) are mostly dry and sunny with warm temperatures on the coast typically in the low to mid 20's with hotter temperatures inland surpassing 30°C at times in July and August.

Itinerary

Day 1-4

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Begin in the vibrant city of Vancouver on British Columbia’s coast, with interactive museums and summer festivals, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained. Highlights include Granville Island with its regular live waterfront entertainment, fresh fudge and donuts and the Kids Market which sells all kinds of offbeat educational toys. Alternatively head across to North Vancouver and experience a squirrel’s eye view of the coastal rainforest and totem poles as you walk across the Capilano Suspension Bridge, the world’s highest. No trip to Vancouver would be complete without biking around scenic Stanley Park through ancient forests.

Accommodation: Sutton Place ( 3 nights )
Day 4-7

Ashcroft

We then then suggest driving into BC’s Cowboy Country where Sundance Guest Ranch offers a fully-inclusive family-friendly western ranch experience. With 100 beautiful horses, Sundance offers scenic horse riding for all levels from novices to the accomplished. We pretty much guarantee that you’ll spend a lot of time laughing as you spend your days with the patient, courteous and good-humored wranglers on trail rides, relaxing by the pool and enjoying the authentic hospitality.

Accommodation: Sundance Guest Ranch ( 3 nights )
Day 7-10

Whistler, British Columbia, Canada

Heading back towards the coast, we suggest stopping off for a few nights to experience the fun mountain town of Whistler. Known as a winter sports mecca, in summer the area becomes a paradise for hiking, biking, white water rafting and zip-lining. Soaring above rugged mountain creeks, crags and crashing rivers is an experience you will never forget. It is also an excellent place for bear watching, where we can organize fantastic guided tours to spot black bears, often seen on the mountain sides foraging for fruits.

Accommodation: Nita Lake Lodge ( 3 nights )
Day 10-13

Sunshine Coast, British Columbia

Finally, it is a scenic drive and ferry crossing to end your vacation on the staggeringly beautiful Sunshine Coast at the superb West Coast Wilderness Lodge. Inclusive of meals and certain activities dependent on your package, there is plenty of adventure potential. Take a zodiac boat trip to Princess Louisa Inlet, where you can spot First Nation rock paintings, thundering waterfalls and orca whales if you’re lucky. You can shoot rapids in a kayak, explore remote inlets by jet-ski and trek along ancient rainforest trails. Depending on your preference you can get out and experience it all, or simply soak up the wonderous stillness of the place. West Coast Wilderness Lodge offers an idyllic place to end an incredible family adventure.
