Explore Isabela, one of the archipelago’s youngest and most volcanically active islands. The day kicks off with a hike to Sierra Negra volcano, shrouded in morning fog and drizzle and you may even spot Galapagos Hawks, finches, flycatchers and Short Eared Owls. Reaching the rim of Sierra Negra's crater, the second largest world, you will be rewarded with views that stretch beyond imagination.
Continuing to Volcan Chico, the landscape transforms into an otherworldly scene akin to Mars. While the land appears to be utterly desolate, a closer look will reveal small lizards scurrying about among the rocks. Take in lava tubes and fumaroles before a peaceful lunch beneath a ""jaboncillo"" tree, gazing at the central and northern Isabela, with Fernandina, Pinzon, and Santa Cruz Islands in the distance. Complete your day of hiking (16 kilometers / 9,94 miles in total) and relax on the beaches of Puerto Villamil.
