  • Indoor and outdoor hot spring bathing

Part of the celebrated KAI brand of luxury hot spring ryokans, KAI Nikko offers the chance for guests to immerse themselves in Japanese culture in both comfort and style. Overlooking the beautiful calm waters of Lake Chuzenji, the ryokan enjoys a peaceful and serene ambience. Each of the Japanese-style rooms is individually-furnished, showcasing the best of Japan’s regional craftsmanship. The accommodation is spacious, modern and stylish and many rooms enjoy breath-taking views across the lake. The accommodation is on a half-board basis and guests are treated to delicious Japanese cuisine. There are indoor and outdoor hot spring baths, a relaxation lounge and nightly Nikko Geta Show, a dance performance telling the story of the traditional Nikko geta sandals.

The 33 spacious rooms are all tastefully-furnished with tatami-mat flooring, futon beds, sliding doors and local artwork. Many rooms have a distinguishing feature such as a marble or cedar bathtub or Western-style living area. KAI Signature Rooms include lake views and furnishings featuring kanuma kumiko wood ornamentation. Standard amenities include Wi-Fi, en-suite bathroom with yukata linen robes, wrapping cloth for carrying personal items, luxury mattress, TV, kettle, fridge, safe, hair dryer and air purifier. The room rate includes half-board and guests enjoy exquisite and beautifully-presented traditional multi-course kaiseki dining in semi-private booths. Breakfast is Japanese-style and please be aware that there is no Western-style food offered at the ryokan. Complimentary coffee is served in the Woodcraft Library.

There are both indoor and outdoor hot spring baths for single sex bathing and a relaxation lounge. Indoor baths are lined in aromatic cedar wood, while outdoor baths have been landscaped to blend in with their natural surroundings. Well-located, the ryokan is a 15-minute drive from Toshogu Shrine and Nikko National Park. A wonderful ryokan which is bound to be one of the highlights of your stay.
