  • The light, spacious rooms are Japanese or Western in style, with those in the newer building boasting open-air baths

  • The restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, with a seasonal menu of Kaiseki meals

  • A number of outdoor and indoor ‘onsen’ use the water of the island’s hot springs and offer striking views over the ocean

The 44 rooms of Hotel Nakanoshima enjoy an enviable location on a private island in the dazzling waters of the Pacific Ocean. With both indoor and outdoor hot spring baths, the hotel offers a taste of traditional Japanese bathing in tranquil surrounds.

The rooms are light and airy, with a simple decor that echoes traditional Japanese design in its sleek lines and muted colors but adds western-style beds, private bathrooms, flat-screen TVs and air-conditioning. With either Japanese or standard rooms, guests can choose from traditional tatami mat seating areas or sofas and armchairs. The rooms in the newer building, Naginosho, boast their own open-air baths, while all rooms enjoy a view of the ocean.

With a changing menu of dishes crafted from local, seasonal ingredients, the restaurant serves traditional Kaiseki meals in modern, minimalist surrounds with a view of the ocean. A stylish lounge offers space to relax and socialize with a drink or enjoy a book by the fire. The island boasts six natural hot springs and the hotel harnesses these with its indoor and outdoor ‘onsen’, strategically located to allow guests to bathe with panoramic views of Nachi Bay.

Hotel Nakanoshima offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, its private island location and hot spring baths setting the scene for a restful and restorative stay.
