Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea

The Kempinski Ishtar Dead Sea is a luxurious and exclusive hotel overlooking the northern shores of the Dead Sea. It has its own private man-made beach on the Dead Sea, a number of swimming pools as well as the largest spa in the Middle East.

Dead Sea, Jordan
  • The Kempinski Hotel Ishtar has the largest spa in the Middle East, and offers Thai massages in addition to Dead Sea treatments

  • Yoga classes are available through the spa, both group classes and private by appointment only

  • The Ishtar section of the resort has a separate reception so check-in feels more exclusive

  • There are a number of swimming pools to choose from

The hotel is located on the banks of the Dead Sea, famous for its ozone-rich air, mineral loaded seawater and ultra-violet filtered sunshine, making this the ideal place to unwind and rejuvenate after adventures Petra or Wadi Rum.

Set amidst pretty gardens dotted with lagoons, waterfalls and private pools, the resort has 345 rooms and suites divided into two sections; the first being the main building at the top of the resort, offering sea facing rooms, and the other being the 'Ishtar Village' in the middle of the resort, offering rooms clustered in low-rise buildings.

The rooms are large and modern, although like most of the hotels in Jordan, it is perhaps best not to expect quite the same level of opulence that you might find in luxury hotels in the rest of the Middle East. This being said, the Kempinski Ishtar is the most luxurious hotel on the Dead Sea, and certainly one of the best hotels in the country.

The hotel has a range of good restaurants from Thai to Italian. The hotel also has nine outdoor freshwater swimming pools, and the man-made beach leads to steps down to the Dead Sea. The Ishtar Spa by Resense is a real highlight, with 20 treatment rooms and a number of excellent facilities including a steam room, sauna, whirlpool and hydro-pool.

Location

Dead Sea, Jordan

Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea sits at the lowest point you can get to on Earth while remaining on its surface, at the north end of the Dead Sea in Jordan, east of the West Bank. Needless to say, it is central to some of the most pivotal sites in Western and Middle Eastern history, including the baptism site of Jesus Christ, the ancient city of Jerash, and the Lost City of Petra.
