Jordan is an archaeologist and historian’s paradise. Just outside Amman is Jerash, which has been around since the Bronze Age, and is one of Jordan’s most impressive sites. For those who are more active then there are fantastic hiking routes up to the high place of sacrifice where you can gaze down on this ancient city. The Monastery is also a must visit, at the other end of Petra there are a lot of steps to get there but the views and sweet tea at the end is worth the strain.
