St Christoph resort guide

Small and exclusive, St Christoph is ideal for those who want to escape from the liveliness and mass-appeal of St Anton, but enjoy the same ski area, superb snow and luxury accommodation on the foot of the slopes.

St Christoph

Small but charming St Christoph is near the top of the Arlberg pass and accesses the same pistes as its larger neighbor, St Anton. Its lower slopes are ideal for beginners, while more advanced skiers have St Anton and Stuben’s world of skiing at their feet.

Quiet and exclusive, St Christoph is an ideal retreat for those wishing to escape the liveliness of St Anton itself, but still enjoy the wonderful skiing on offer. St Christoph is popular with families and anyone seeking a peaceful, rustic resort with the convenience of doorstep skiing. Luxury ski hotels, gourmet restaurants and bars are all located at the foot of the slopes.

On the mountain
St Christoph has access to a large ski area with 40 lifts and an impressive 1011m vertical descent. The slopes are best for intermediate skiers but you can ski over to nearby resorts for more challenging runs. There’s a good nursery slope near the Sporthotel for beginners, and a snowpark, terrain park and half pipe. All the benefits of St Anton are at your feet here, including, of course, the superb snow record. St Christoph also offers 35km of cross-country ski trails.

Mountain restaurants

Restaurants are mainly located in hotels but non-guests welcomed. Traditional Alpine cuisine features heavily on the menus. The most popular place for lunch in the Arlech region is the Hospiz-Alm in St Christoph. The terrace can be very busy on sunny days but quieter tables are available on the first floor balcony. There’s also a very good service restaurant with a changing menu called the Ferwall Stube at the mid-station of the Galzig-Valluga cable car.

Non-skiing activities

Walking tours, an ice rink, a sports center, parapente and tobogganing are all available.

Family and ski school

St Christoph is a low-key family friendly resort with a great atmosphere. The nursery slopes and beginners' lift are conveniently located near the hotels, many of which run children’s clubs, and have spa facilities for adults. Arlberg Ski School has a branch in St Christoph with a locally-based team of instructors. There’s also a ski school for children outside the Sporthotel.

Après and nightlife

Don’t expect to find the exciting nightlife that other Arlech resorts offer in St Christoph. Evenings here are generally quiet, mainly spent enjoying delicious meals or relaxing in the hotel bar with a few drinks. However the neighboring resorts of Lech and St Anton are only a short distance away if you fancy a night out clubbing, or you want to soak up some traditional Austrian après-ski on the mountains before retiring from the slopes for the day.
