Escape the bright lights of Kuala Lumpur for some respite in the wild green interior of central Malaysia. Visit the Cameron Highlands, a pleasantly cool hill station lined with tea plantations. Get a taste of the jungle without leaving the Malay Peninsula at Taman Negara, and Ipoh is a great place to experience authentic local Malaysian life.

Cameron Highlands Central Malaysia

The lush landscape of the Cameron Highlands in Central Malaysia provide a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur. The size of Singapore, the magnificent rolling hills are peppered with tea plantations, strawberry farms and dense mossy forests. Here you can spend some time exploring the fabulous tea plantations, enjoying leisurely walks across the hills or perhaps visit the Butterfly Farm, home to a fantastic live butterfly exhibition amongst other exotic wildlife.

Another highlight is Taman Negara National Park. Vast steamy jungle dwarfs everything as you journey into the world’s oldest deciduous rainforest. On offer are captivating night-time jungle walks and leisurely boat trips where you can catch a glimpse of many of the park’s endangered animals, which include the magnificent Asian elephant and clouded leopard. One of the highlights of any visit to Taman Negara is its marvelous canopy skywalk. The canopy walkway is one of the world’s longest walkways and towers a dizzying 40m off the jungle floor. The jungle path takes you right up to the tops of the trees, from where you can enjoy fabulous panoramic views of the rivers, lowlands and forests below – as well as a great place for bird watching.
