Hiking the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains
Get-off-the-beaten-path to navigate spectacular canyons of Sierra de la Laguna. Your guide will introduce you to the landscapes and history of Baja; after your hike meet local ranchers for a hands-on cooking class or simply enjoy lunch cooked for you.
Experience another side of Baja with your naturalist guide, hike through riverbed canyons sharing stories and theories about how the peninsula came about and its rich history. You will be introduced to a local family, descendants from generations of Santiago Mexicans, who own one of the best mountain ranches in the region.
There will be plenty of time for hiking in the canyons of Sierra de la Laguna, where you can learn about the biosphere that the Pericue Indians considered their home, or just relax and unwind at your leisure and enjoy the beauty of the place. The region has fascinating indigenous flora and fauna and your naturalist guide can bring the landscapes to life.
At the end of the hike, you can enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the ranchers family style, and if you'd like to learn some local cooking techniques and cook with the family you can have a hands-on class in making local tortillas and salsas that you can recreate when back at home.
If you would just like to hike, swim in waterfalls and enjoy the freshest catch in a local restaurant, this can also be arranged without the ranch visit. Every trip is personalized to you so any length of hike is possible.
