Offering an unbeatable Himalayan experience, Shinta Mani Mustang sits at the gateway of Nepal’s ancient mountain kingdom of Mustang. Built in the region’s traditional Thakali architectural style, the property has been constructed from local Baglung stone and timber to create an elegant two-storey hotel. Part of the Shinta Mani hotel group, architect Bill Bensley, known as a pioneer of sustainable design, has ensured this mountain retreat delivers the ultimate in sustainable and luxurious experiential travel. Providing a fully immersive five-night experience, guests enjoy the services of a personal guide, suite accommodation, all food and drink, a program of private guided excursions and activities, a personal Bensley Adventure Guide, spa treatments at the wellness center, laundry service and transfers to and from Jomsom airport.

Each of the 29 environmentally friendly guestrooms is based on the traditional style of a Tibetan home, designed with local materials including stone, slate, wood, and natural textiles. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer sweeping views of the Kali Gandaki Valley and majestic Nilgiri Mountain. The stone walls are complemented by polished wooden floors, a warm color palette, handmade tiger rugs, yak hair stools, hand-picked art, fully stocked minibar, and Wi-Fi. Dinners at the Nilgiri Restaurant are carefully designed to introduce guests to the local cuisine, as well as customized picnics and outdoor meals to enjoy during daily excursions. Guests can also relax over a drink at the Aara Bar, named after the local drink of the region.

Part of the Shinta Mani experience includes a personalized spa and wellness program based on Tibetan healing rituals and practices. These could include a holistic deep-tissue massage, steam, sauna, or beauty treatment. The hotel has also curated a package of core adventures for guests to enjoy in the Lower Mustang region. These include wilderness trekking, visits to authentic villages, monasteries, and pilgrimage sites, mountain biking, yoga, meditation, and movement therapy. All are privately guided, and guests can choose how much or how little they wish to participate.

The property has excellent sustainability credentials, with solar power, a wastewater system, organic kitchen garden and orchard. All products are ethically sourced and from local businesses to support the local economy. Most of the staff are members of the local community and the company make a point of offering training skills and recruitment opportunities to women. The hotel also supports the Pasang Lhamu Foundation which operates environmental and community projects in the region.
