The best time to visit Oman is between November and mid-March, when the cooler air brings the mountain scenery sharply into focus and daytime temperatures average 25°C. For the rest of the year, much of Oman is oppressively hot and hazy, particularly between May and August. The Dhofar region, and Salalah, experiences the Khareef (or monsoon) during the summer months, between mid-June and mid-September, making the mountains really lush during this time and for some weeks afterwards. Salalah is much cooler than the north, reaching a maximum of 32°C during the summer.
Itinerary
Nizwa, Oman
The trip begins with your arrival into Muscat where you'll be met by your private car and guide. You'll be driven to your beautiful accommodation in Jebel Akhdar, a mountainout area perched 2000 meters above sea level, home to tiny villages and fantastic walking trails. Spend 3 nights here and truly relax in style, taking in the pristine mountain air and incredible scenery. We highly recommend heading out with your guide by car or on foot visiting the rose-growing villages and towns, and also spending a day in Nizwa, taking in the ancient city, souq and streets, as well as the Bahla fort and Jabrin Castle.

Wahiba Sands, Oman
From Nizwa you’ll head out into the desert, for a night under the stars and a visit to the inviting Wadi Bani Khalid where you can take a refreshing dip during your day of sightseeing in the area.

Muscat
From Wahiba Sands, your guide will drive you to Oman's capital, Muscat, a low rise and incredibly friendly city with a genuine Arabian charm. One of the Middle East's most glorious cities, it brilliantly combines glossy contemporary architecture with a historic charm rarely found in this part of the world. Soak up Oman's intoxicating and rich history by visiting the old city souk in Muttrah and many of the city's fantastic museums on your half day city tour, and we also recommend heading out on a boat into the Gulf of Oman to spot dolphins and whales.

Salalah, Oman
After three relaxing nights, fly from Muscat down to Salalah for 4 nights exploring the Dhofar region, which is in complete contrast to the north. This pristine coastline feels much more tropical than the dusty northern shores, with coconut trees, banana plantations and ancient Frankincense trees, dotting its landscape. Here you'll find the silky white sand beaches, ideal for some true relaxation at the end of your trip. Ideal for both families and couples, Salalah is a hidden gem.
