Manila
Located to the west of the country on the shores of the Manila Bay, Manila is a thriving metropolitan area home to over 10 million people. Though modern and vibrant, the capital echoes its past too, with architectural influences from the Spanish colonial times, and religious relics still standing.
Manila is the Philippine’s capital city found on the western shores of Luzon. It is a rapidly developing city, but you must not be put off by its reputations as being polluted, congested and just not very nice! There are areas to avoid but if you dig a bit further you come across some beautifully designed buildings influenced by its Spanish heritage. There is also quite a cosmopolitan and vibrant atmosphere here creating a fun evening out. So a stopover here for a night or two could well be worth it before you hit the beach.
