North Western Province

Sri Lanka's North West Province is remarkably beautiful, and provides a wonderful destination if you want to escape the hordes and get off-the-beaten track. With a superb coastline, you can explore the popular resorts of Kalpitiya and Waikkal. As you head inland, visit the remarkable Wilpattu National Park and remote villages offering guests a totally different experience of Sri Lanka.

North Western Province

Sri Lanka's North West Province is little visited by tourists, who tend to bypass this superb corner of Sri Lanka as they head up to the Cultural Triangle. Climatically, the area tends to be slightly more affected by the Maha Season from October to January and drier during the Yala Season from April to August. Sleepy fishing villages are located along the coast, and you can stay in some quiet, yet up and coming resorts such as Kalpitya. Explore the National Park of Wilpattu for leopard and wild elephant or explore the local villages where you see a remarkably untouched side to Sri Lanka, very much unchanged by time.
