A feat of architectural genius by renowned architect Tilla Theus, the Widder is a skilful amalgam of nine medieval townhouses transformed into a modern luxury hotel. Theus has woven together old stone walls and wooden beams, turned ancient alleys into passageways and introduced modern steel, chrome and glass to create a single hotel, with a 700-year history. This medieval framework now boasts exceptional contemporary design, cutting-edge technology, and unsurpassed comfort. Expect highly personal service, superlative attention to detail, Eames and Corbusier furnishings, along with fabulous original artworks by Andy Warhol, among others.

Each of the 49 suites and rooms has a distinctive layout and has been individually furnished. Features may include antique tiled stoves, historic wooden beams, or medieval frescos. All enjoy climate control, multimedia TV, Wi-Fi, motion sensor night lights, and chic bathrooms. Full suites with separate living area include in-room check-in, bottle of champagne, and room service breakfast. While those booking the Penthouse Suite with Rooftop Terrace enjoy sweeping views and complimentary airport transfers. For more privacy and space, the Widder has four Luxury Residences which include access to the hotel’s services.

Meaning ‘ram’, the Widder is part of the historic Butcher’s Guild and there is a focus on meat at the two restaurants. With two Michelin stars and 18 Gault Millau points, the Widder Restaurant is one of the city’s prime dining venues. The Widder Bar also excels and has been ranked as one of the world’s best for ambience, quality, and creative drinks. For more casual brasserie dining, AuGust is popular for its meat and sausage specialities, while those looking for nightlife can head to the off-location Widder Garage for live music and popular DJs.

The hotel gym boasts state-of-the-art Technogym equipment and can arrange personal training sessions, while the concierge can book treatments and massage in the luxury spa suite. The hotel library is well-stocked with a selection of coffee table books and during the warmer months, guests can also enjoy the tranquillity of the Widder Garden.

Along with the Storchen and Alex Lake Zurich, the Widder is part of the prestigious Living Circle group, and the hotels share a boat to ferry guests across the lake to dinner dates at their various restaurants.
